Staff Correspondent: United Commercial Bank Limited (UCBL) yesterday donated funds to the family members of the victims of recent fatal road accident at Mirsharai in Chittagong.
Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury, chairman of UCBL, handed over cheques worth Tk 50,000 to each family of those who died in the road crash and cheque worth Tk 25,000 to each family of the injured. The bank donated the funds as a part of its corporate social responsibility, said a press release.
Akhtaruzzaman, also chairman of parliamentary standing committee for textile and jute ministry, expressed his deep condolence to the family members of the victim.
Engineer Mosharrof Hossain, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on civil aviation and tourism ministry, the UCB Directors Setara Gaffar, Nur Uddin Javed, Shabbir Ahmed, Bazal Ahmed, Deputy Managing Directors Mamun-Ur-Rashid, Mirza Mahmud Rafiqur Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion.
Since its inception in 1983, UCBL has been conducting its CSR initiatives, the statement said.
