SYLHET: Inspector General of Police (IGP) A K M Shahidul Hoque yesterday said police department would not take the responsibility of any personal crime committed by its member.
“All are equal before the law. Everyone has to face trial if they commit crime. If any police member is found guilty, stern action must be taken against him,” he said while addressing a seminar organized by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) at Sylhet Zila Parisad.
The IGP said they have formed investigation committees and suspended the police members temporarily for the offenses committed recently. “We are filing departmental case against them,” he added.
Shahidul Hoque urged all to work together for betterment of expatriates as they are keeping the country’s economy dynamic.
Sylhet District and Sessions Judge Manir Ahmed Patwari, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha and Awami League Organizing Secretary Adv Mejbah Uddin Siraj, among others, spoke on the occasion with HRPB President Adv Manzil Morshed in the chair.
