Desk Report: Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who is being treated in Saudi Arabia after being injured in an attack on his presidential palace earlier this month, would come back to Sanaa on Friday and “resume his constitutional duty as the president”, a senior official of Saleh’s ruling party has said.
“The president is expected to arrive in Sanaa Friday. He will return to his office and resume his constitutional duty as the president of Yemen,” Xinhua quoted the official, as saying.
The ruling party has prepared a large, public ceremony to greet the president, who will arrive along with some recovered high- ranking officials,” he said, adding that some other officials will remain in the Saudi capital of Riyadh to complete their treatment.
