DHAKA: President Abdul Hamid and his wife Rashida Khanom hosted a Baishakhi reception marking the Bengali New Year-1422 at Bangabhaban last night.

Chief Justice SK Sinha, Prime Minister’s special envoy HM Ershad, ministers and Prime Minister’s advisers joined the reception.

State ministers, senior lawyers, Supreme Court judges, cabinet secretary, chiefs of three services, members of parliament, senior political leaders, journalists, senior civil and military officers, academics, artistes and distinguished citizens also joined the gathering.

President Hamid exchanged greetings with the guests at the Credential Hall of Bangabhaban.

Later, a cultural programme was held with the participation of renowned artistes.
