Mr. NSM Faruque is a very well experienced and dynamic business personality in the Telecom sector. Born on January 10, 1962, Mr. Faruque’s father’s is Md. Sirajul Islam. After completion of his M. Com (Management), he immediately ventured into Business as a career and became involved in the Telecommunications sector from 1997. During the past thirteen years Mr. Faruque has made tremendous success in his business and currently he is discharging his duties as the Managing Director of Integra Group, where he is responsible for the day to day operations of the Group.
Integra Group is a Joint Venture Group of Companies with Malaysian and Bangladeshi interests and comprise of Integra International Ltd, Integra Communications Ltd, Integra Interiors Ltd and Arrowhead Properties Ltd. The Joint Venture started in 1997 with the advent of mobile telephony in Bangladesh and is currently mainly involved in the R&D, manufacturing, importation, distribution and servicing of mobile phones in the country. Since inception, each of the Companies has been taking immense part in the development of its staff and infrastructure, as well as economic development of the country.
Integra started in the Telecoms sector by distributing SIM cards and reloads right from the beginning of mobile telephony, and was appointed as an authorized Distributor by all the Mobile Operators including Grameenphone, Aktel, Sheba, (later Banglalink) and Citycell and was the No. 1 Distributor for all the four Operators concurrently for 4 straight years from 2001 to 2004. Integra also opened the first exclusive mobile phone shops in Bangladesh in March 1997, both in the capital city, one in Dhanmondi and one in Gulshan. This later mushroomed into two chain of shops called Intecom Shoppe and Mobile Mart.
Integra in 1998 was officially appointed as the sole authorized Distributor for Motorola of USA, which was at that time the No. l mobile manufacturer in the world. Together with: Motorola and their innovative products, a good and loyal network of Dealers and Retailers were developed all over the country. Soon Integra was also appointed the sole Distributor of Alcatel of France, Bosch of Germany, TCL of China, Ben Q of Taiwan and later, i-mobile of Thailand and LG of South Korea.
With 10 years of experience behind him, Mr. Faruque took a bold step in 2006, by becoming the first Bangladeshi to design and develop a homegrown mobile phone brand. He was earlier the first Bangladeshi entrepreneur to set up an assembly plant in 2003 with BOI approval, but this was for international brands and the local value add was minimal. Mr. Faruque always had an ambition to develop a hand phone with Bangladeshi talent, so after months of R&D, the SPRINT brand was launched. The first local hand phone brand designed by Bangladeshis for the Bangladesh market. For the time being, the manufacturing is being done offshore due to the unavailability of component suppliers in Bangladesh and also the high duty attached to the import of these components. Integra Group’s Head Quarters is located at the capital city’s Rapa Plaza, Dhanmondi which is also the first and largest distribution hub in the mobile sector in Bangladesh. Over two hundred forty one skilled people are working in their respective fields efficiently. It has Service Centers at 33 locations nationwide with Collection Points in all 64 Thanas of the Country. Integra has a large and loyal distribution network which has been nurtured over the last 13 years with many of them being attached since day one. As Integra has grown, so have the distribution and sales partners who now number well over two thousand comprising of Dealers, Sub-Dealers and Retailers all across the country.
From time to time, Integra has received several awards as recognition for its pioneering role in the Telecom support sector, including the Best i-mobile Distributor, 2009, Best Dealer at the Grameenphone Distributors Conference in
Bangkok 2004, Best Communicator Award for Chittagong zone, Grameenphone Distributors Conference in Bangkok 2004, Best Outlet Award for Mobile Mart 11-Tongi, Dhaka, Mobile Mart 09-Khulna, Mobile Mart 50-Bhola, Barisal, Mobile Mart 14-Rajshahi, Grameenphone Distributors Conference in 2004. Best Outlet Award for Mobile Mart 19-Sylhet and Mobile Mart 10-Chittagong, Grameenphone Distributors Conference in Cox’s Bazar, 2003, Best Communicator Award, Grameenphone Distributors Conference Cox’s Bazar 2003, Recognition of Contribution to Success by Motorola, 2003, Best Outlet Award for Mobile Mart 01-Gulshan-2 and Mobile Mart 09-Khulna, Grameenphone Distributors Conference in Chittagong, 2002, Best Interface Award, Grameenphone Distributors Conference 2001 in Dhaka, and Dealer for Outstanding Performance by Grameenphone in 1998.
Alongside his business activities, Mr. NSM Faruque is also related with many socio-cultural organizations. He is the President of Bangladesh Mobile Phone Importers Association. He is also a member of DCCI and General Body member of FBCC1. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the society as well as to the growth of our national economy, Mr. Faruque received many Awards and Crests from different socio-cultural organizations. Amongst them, was the BMBA Award-2009 by the Honorable President Zillur Rahman on account of Life Time Achievement in the Telecommunication sector. He also received BBJS Award-2008 as the best Mobile Phone Operator by Bangladesh Business Journalists society. In personal life, Mr. NSM Faruque is married to Mrs. Nazjj Nahar and blessed with two daughters, Lameeha Islam an Zaria Islam Meem.
