Mohammad Atiqur Rahman is one of the leading business personalities of the country. He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Prince Group. Mr. Atiqur Rahman comes of a respectable Muslim family of a village Jahanpur Under south Surma thana of Sylhet on August 18, 1960. His father’s name is late Khan Shaheb Bazlur  Rahman. After completion his gradation and post graduation from University of Dhaka Mr. Atiqur Rahman did Business Management Certificate course form the same University. He also did his computer course affiliated with state University of New York (SUNY) U.S.A.

As a Chairman and Managing Director of prince Group Mr. Atiq  is in overall management responsibility of the following establishment : Balaka Exchange Ptc. Ltd, Singapore (Join-Venture) with National Bank), Prince Medical Centre (Pvt.) Ltd. (A Medical check-up centre for G.CC states), Prince International (Pvt.) Ltd., Prince Air International, Prince Real Estate (Pvt) Ltd., Rhine Knit Fashions Ltd., NCC Computer, Nabil International, Life-Care Prince Int’l  & Hospital, Nepal (A Bangladesh-Nepal Joint Venture) and Prince Electronic Industry.

Apart from business activities Mr. Atiqur Rahman is also involved in Politics and socio-cultural organizations. Currently he is a Presidium member of Jatiya Party. As he started his political career in student life Mr. Atiq took part in both directly and intelligently in Historic Mass Upsurge of 1969 and Great Liberation War in 1971, A former student leader of Sylhet M.C. College (Now known as Sylhet University College) and also played an active role by holding important positions of Sylhet district Student League. He had been carrying out his responsibility as Vice-President of Sylhet District (Sadar) Awami League since a Longtime. But later on he joined with the politics of Jatiya Party in early 2002 being inspired with the ideology of Palli-Bandhu Hussain Muhammad Ershad, Former President and Chairman of Jatiya Party, and In 2004, he became central Joint Secretary General twice and also carried  out his responsibility as Co-ordinator of sylhet division in 2006. He was the President of Jatiya Sramik Party. Besides his political activities Mr. Atiqur Rahman has enormous involvement in Socio-cultural organizations. He has been rendering services as Secretary General of Sylhet Zila Samity since-2003. He is the acting President of Sylhet division Unayan Parisad and Co-Chairman of Sylhet division Unnayan Welfare Trust. He also brings out two Magazines Fortnightly Janatar Dalil and Khelar Khabar as publisher and Editor. He is the chief Adviser of Amra Sylhetbashi, an Welfare Organization, Co-Chairman of Lions Club District 315 Bangladesh and Vice-President of Mohamedan Sporting Club. He received Victory Day TRAB Award and Sports Journalist Award for his outstanding contributions to the society as well as in sports arena. Mr. Atiq established many schools, Colleges Madrashas as part of his social commitment. He traveled many countries individually or as a member of delegate team including USA, UK, Russia, Thailand, Nepal, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE and Saudi Arabia. He also took part in various seminars and Symposia of NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and IRI (International Republic Institute), U.S.A.
