DHAKA: Mobile banking services resumed this afternoon after a 24-suspension for city corporation elections, said a Bangladesh Bank (BB) official.
“As per earlier decision, BB resumed mobile financial services immediately after 5pm on Tuesday and conveyed the decision to all banks and financial institutions concerned by telephone,” general manager of governor secretariat AFM Asaduzzaman told BSS.
With resumption of mobile banking, cell phone users would be allowed to top-up their phones through mobile banking, which was also suspended from 5pm Monday to 5pm Tuesday.
At the request of the Election Commission, the central bank on Monday suspended all kinds of transactions through mobile banking till 5pm on Tuesday.
Earlier on the same day, BB put ceiling of Taka 1000 on all kinds of transactions through mobile banking. However, the central bank changed the decision later on the day and suspended mobile financial services for 24 hours.
