Mr. MD. Azizul Islam is the Chairman and Managing Director of Alif Group of Companies a leading business conglomerate of the country. Born in January 1, 1950 his father’s name of Late Md. Amirul Islam and mother’s name is Begum Rabia Khatun. A very well educated personality Mr. Azizul Islam passed his Matriculation in 1966 from Abbottabad Public School, Abottabad, Pakistan under Peshwar Board and Intermediate from Notre Dam College in 1968. Later on he got admitted himself at University of Dhaka as an honors student in Political Science and passed in 1972; he also did his MA in 1973 (Exam held in 1974).

After completion of his education Mr. MD. Azizul Islam initiated his career as a businessman with Jamuna Oil Company Ltd. as its distributor. A former President of Distributor’s Association and Tank Lorry Owners’ Association, he worked as a 1st class Government Contractor of Roads & High ways Department (R&H Dept) and Housing & Settlement Department.

His business journey moved forward step by step embracing success one after another. Mr. MD.Azizul Islam does not have any interest in focusing himself to a great extend. His honesty, talent, efficiency and above all perseverance has made him one of the leading business personalities of the country. Besides 100% export-oriented garments industries, he has established other business organizations too by applying his merit, hard labor and strong determination. “Garments industries have helped to reach Bangladesh in the highest pick of glory and it became possible only due to our concerted efforts”, says Mr. Islam, a leading entrepreneur of RMG Sector. In mid eighties that means in 1984 this hard working and ambitious business personality began garments business and due to his dynamic leadership and management strategy he till date owns as many as nine factories along with Washing Plant, Embroidery, Textile and Real Estate. He has so far employed five thousand people in those industries. His business conglomerate consists of Alif Garments Limited, Alif Outwears Limited, Alif Textile Limited, Alif Garments Limited, Hexa Garments Limited, Alif Real Estate Limited, Alif Asset Management Limited, Alif Design & Sources Limited, Alif Bengal Holdings Limited, Alif Embroidery Limited and M/S Bailul Mamur.

Alongside Ready Made Garments (RMG) related business Mr. MD. Azizul Islam is also in other business. He is a Director of Fareast Islami Life Insurance, Director of Eastern University and Director of International Holdings Ltd. He is a founder of Amirul Islam Girls School, Dulalpur, Comilla, Apart from this Mr. MD. Azizul has been contributing enormously for the well being of the poor people as a social worker.

To his credit, this very well known business personality was a Commercially Import Person for the last seventeen years since 1991 and also received National Export Trophy several times in the past. He won National Export Trophy (Silver: 1995-96), National Export Trophy (Gold: 1996-1997) as the highest exporter. He also won National Export Trophy (Silver: 1998-1999) and National Export Trophy (Silver: 2002-2003). In recognition of his outstanding contribution to our national economy as well as the society Mr. MD. Azizul Islam received scores of a Awards/Crests so far from various socio-cultural organizations.

This self determined and a generous personality Mr. MD. Azizul Islam’s father Mr. Amirul Islam was a first class government official and his mother Rabia Khatun is a house wife. In personal life Mr.MD. Azizul Islam is married and also a proud father of two daughters and a son. His wife Ms. Lutfunnesa was a former lecturer in Logic of Residential Model College in the capital city of Dhaka. She is also a meritorious one and did her BA (Hons) in philosophy and MA (1st Class) DU. His eldest daughter Ms. Lubna is a doctor by profession and only son MD. Azimul Islam MBA completed his higher education from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA and serves as a Director & Chief Operating Officer in Alif Group. The youngest daughter Rezwana Islam, student of BBA in North South University, Dhaka. Mr.MD. Azizul Islam has visited many countries for both business and personal purposes. At present, they live in Gulshan-2, a posh area in Dhaka, the capital city.
