Founder and CEO of Pran-RFL Group Major General (retd) Amjad Khan Chowdhury got the 16th SEED Award 2012.
President of ICC Bangladesh Mahbubur Rahman formally handed over the award to him Saturday.
This award has been given to him in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the economic development through setting new trends in agro-processing industry and taking Bangladesh boldly to the world and thus generating thousands of jobs and new entrepreneurs in rural areas.
The award carries a medal, Tk 2 lakh prize money and a citation.
The programme was attended, among others, by Rotary District Governor Ishtiaq A Zaman PhD, Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka president Syed Mahbubur Rahman and Chairman of the Installation Committee Khalid Hassan.
Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka also celebrated its glorious 30 years of installation this year. The Club was formed in the year of 1982 with the objective of changing lives in communities by contributing various social causes.
Rotary Science Education and Economic Development (SEED) Award was introduced in 1995 by Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka and Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka Foundation.
Previous winners of the award include Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Founder of IBA Professor Shafiullah, Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Dr Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, Professor Iqbal Quadir, Shykh Seraj, Dr Mohammad Zafar Iqbal and Haripada Kapali for their commendable contribution to the society.
