An engineer turned businessman, S.M. Anwar Hossain is the Chairman and CEO of one of the leading real estate developers in Bangladesh. He started his career as a civil engineer in an Engineering Consulting firm in 1974 and afterwards joined the Water Development Board, Ministry of Water Resources Government of Bangladesh in 1975. He kept himself mingled in touch with some civil engineering firms in African countries and Middle East for construction of real estate projects. He was concurrently associated with a reputed Engineering Consulting Company namely “Tropical Consultant Ltd.” as an owner cum Director where he headed a large team of Engineers and designing for construction of national level landmark projects in Bangladesh.

Engr. Hossain initiated a specialized construction company in 1985 and subsequently real estate business in the name of Advanced Development Technologies Ltd. ( ADTL) in 1994 utilizing his proven experience in engineering and construction and by virtue of his rigorous labour, patience and perseverance, ADTL is now one of the leading real estate developers in the country and has leapt to an international height after having been  awarded Super brands  in recognition of its outstanding contribution in the brand management & corporate social responsibility in Bangladesh that leads ADTL to be the pioneer entrepreneur in the country.  It has also now been assigned A1 rating by CRAB (Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh) in recognition of ADTL’s sound financial credibility and organizational excellence. Established the most modern ready-mix concrete industry by dint of which leading the market in manufacturing and supplying high strength best quality ready-mix concrete incorporating updated concrete technology in place of conventionally made concrete by volume for last 10 years.

In pursuit of diversification, ADTL has already embarked on a joint venture consortium with a Netherlands based rapidly growing engineering group to produce EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) block materials for building low cost houses in Bangladesh under EVD (Dutch Govt.) financial assistance.

Furthermore with a view to incorporating vertical integration, ADTL has launched a major production plant from Germany for manufacturing of concrete based engineering material like ornamental bricks, 1st time pigmented concrete bricks solid & hollow, a complete new product for replacement of conventional bricks, caved & ornamental stone and of any concrete structural member, tiles, cladding material etc.

He sincerely recognizes and values corporate social responsibility (CSR) as an  integral  part of moral ethics. Accordingly his company Advanced Development Technologies Ltd. till now, have organized and a number of events including Concert in aid of SIDR victims, fund raising charity program in aid of visually impaired children, Children’s workshop in sponsored in Children’s workshop on International Children Film Festival, workshop on Travelling Children’s Film Festival  which received overwhelmed applause, a concert on International Mother Day, Children’s art competition and promoted each and every national  occasions and offers voluntary services in the society.

Engr. Hossain is also associated with various social and professional organizations at home and abroad. He is a Life Fellow of Institute of Engineers in Bangladesh, and holds a number of responsible positions in connection with socio-economic development activities in Bangladesh.

While acting as the Sr. Vice President, Real Estate & Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB), Engr. Hossain made considerable contribution in bringing necessary reforms and discipline in the apex body of real estate developers of the country.

Engr. Hossain is acting as the Bangladesh Regional President of European Bangladesh Federation of Commerce & Industry (EBFCI) and Bangladesh- Bangladesh-British Chamber of Commerce-UK simultaneously.  Engr. Hossain is a trustee member of Board of trustees of TRP that manages the country’s only Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP) at Savar. As the Vice-President and a life member of BSTQM (Bangladesh Society for Total Quality Management) and Life member of BAAS (Bangladesh AOTS Alumni Society), Engr. Hossain is making valuable contribution in TQM activities at home and abroad.  He was a member of Syndicate of the state-run Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET). Attended a number of Training, seminars, workshop including presentation of key note papers at home and abroad.
