COX’S BAZAR: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 230,000 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets worth around Tk 6.90 crore from Alikhali village under Teknaf Upazila of the district Monday night.
Being chased BGB members of Leda BOP, two Yaba smugglers fled on a salt producing field in the village, leaving the Yaba pills. Later BGB men recovered the contraband tablets, wrapped in two jute sacks there around 10:30pm.
Lieutenant Colonel Abu Zar Al-Zahid, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-42 in Teknaf confirmed the matter to banglanews.
No detention was reported.
The seized Yaba will be destroyed in the presence of higher BGB officials later, the officer said.
