DHAKA: Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman today urged the country’s scientists and researchers to utilize the opportunities, created by different initiatives of the government, in innovative activities.
“Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken science and technology as the prime tool for the national development. Under her leadership, the government is working to improve the living standard of the countrymen and develop the country using science and technology,” he said at a seminar in the city.
Ministry of Science and Technology organized the seminar titled ‘Reviewing and Evaluating the Research Activities of Technology Innovation, Research and Development Project’ at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre auditorium with its Secretary Md Anwar Hossain in the chair, an official release said.
If the research activities are conducted with sincerity and concentration, much time will not be required to change the country, Osman said, adding that the country will become a developed one soon.
Additional Secretary of the ministry Mohammad Akbar Hossain delivered the welcome speech in the seminar.
Six grant awarded researchers presented their research findings in the seminar.
Every year, the Ministry of Science and Technology distributes grants among the scientists and researchers under the Research and Development Project for innovating new technologies and improving the quality of science researches.
In the last seven fiscal years, Taka 2.83 crore was distributed for conducting 504 projects while 181 projects have been selected for getting grants of Taka 1.5 crore in the current fiscal of 2017-2018.
