DHAKA: Despite a fighting all round performance, Bangladesh suffered a shocking three-wicket defeat to mighty Australia in the crucial super 10 group 2 match of the World Twenty20 held on Monday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, India.
Chasing a winning target of 157 runs set Bangladesh, Australia got off to a good start and finally reached home for the loss of seven wickets with nine balls remaining.
Earlier, Bangladesh, rode on Mahmudullha’s breezy knock of unbeaten 49 runs, piled up a competitive total of 156 for 5 from their allotted 20 overs, after they were forced to bat first by Australia.
Adam Jampa of Australia was named the player of the match for his impressive bowing performance.
