RN Desk: The World Mother’s Day will be observed in Bangladesh as elsewhere across the globe today (Sunday) with due honour to the woman, reports.
The celebration of Mother’s Day began in the United States in the early 20th century. Afterwards, the day has been celebrated in other parts of the world. In Bangladesh, sons and daughters mostly visit their mothers with special gifts, make outings for all of their family members or hold a special meal at home or in a restaurant on the day.
The World Mother’s Day is in Dhaka and other parts of the country on the second Sunday of the month of May to show special honour to the mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the role of mothers in society. In some countries Mother’s Day has become synonymous with much older traditions.
A number of socio-cultural organisations, especially the women bodies, have chalked out programmes across the country to celebrate the day.
