RN Desk: Two alleged dacoits were killed in a gunfight with members of the law enforcement agencies at Dhalpur Balurmath area in the city last evening, police said.
Mohammad Mohiuddin, assistant commissioner (AC) of Demra Zone of police, told BSS that the deceased were identified as Salauddin, 30, and Md Jewel, 28. They were the fugitive criminals charged with several criminal cases including murders.
“A gang of robbers were preparing to commit dacoit in a house at Balurmath area of Dhalpur . The gunfight took place as the gang started firing sensing the presence of police there at about 5pm,” he said.
At one stage of the gunfight two killed on the spot while their cohorts fled the scene safely, the AC added.
Police recovered a pistol and a revolver from their possessions.
A case was lodged in this connection with Jatrabari police station.
