Mrs Rehana Rahman is one of the most successful female entrepreneurs of Bangladesh. She is the Managing Director of Bengal Trade Ways Ltd. She was born in Khulna. Her father Late Abdul Wazed Khan Chowdhury was the vice principal of Dhaka Teachers Training College. Her Late mother Masuma Khatun was housewife. She is the youngest amongst her five siblings. She started her student life in Kamrunnesa Girls Government high School in Gopibag. After passing her HSC from Purana Palton Girls College she was admitted in Eden University College for her honors in economics. She married a renowned businessman M. Masihur Rahman in I 968.

She used to inspire her husband in their business. Gradually she involved herself with their business in the absence of her husband. She also carried out her responsibilities as the Managing Director of Bengal Trade ways Ltd.

Director of Chung Hua Bengal Building Fabrication Technologies Ltd, Sponsor Director of Southeast Bank Ltd , Founder Life Member and past Chair person of North south University, Member of UNAB [United Nation Association of Bangladesh] and the President of WEAB (Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh) Her  two sons Arif Rahman and Asif Rahman are also involved in business with their mother as Director of the company Asif Rahman is a Director of Uttara Bank Ltd, Peoples Insurance Company Ltd. and Popular Life Insurance Company Ltd. She is the only proprietor of the dealership of world famous automobile company JAGUAR in Bangladesh. Alongside business activities Ms. Rehana Rahman is currently carrying out her responsibilities as the president of Woman Entrepreneur Association of Bangladesh (WEAB). It is a non-profitable organization which aims to help the enterprising women with necessary guidelines to achieve success in their respective business arena. Facilities given by WEAB include SME credit, improving skill in management, product development designing and marketing. It is affiliated with Apex Trade body FBCCI, SME and SAARC Women Entrepreneur Council. Ms. Rahana believes that the goal of the women entrepreneur in to contribute in building a robust economy by making women society, politically and economically independent. She said, “In the perspective of a brighter future for Bangladesh both men and women have important roles to play. They have to be equal partners in addressing a host of colossal challenging that confront our nation.” Regarding the contribution of women to our national economy Ms. Rahman further said that- in recent times women have emphatically, demonstrated their talent in various fields. Women today need attention to multiple areas of disadvantages they face. They are often subjected to gender discrimination. Violence against women is a frequent occurrence and sometimes a matter of national disgrace. She further said, “Women have lesser access of opportunities to education and jobs. We need to abolish these hurdles so that women can become full participant in our advancement. We must recognize that only with women’s full and active involvement can make Bangladesh a happy and prosperous. Strongly women, Stronger Bangladesh would have to be the main Slogan in this regard.”

In 2002 after death of her hasbund M. Masihur Rahman she held the rudder of the business with the help of her sons. Mrs Rehana Rahman is a very delighted, brilliant and warm hearted lady in her personal life. She also engaged in different socio cultural organizations. She was awarded Begum Rockeya shining personality award in 2008. Her hobbies are Reading, Listening music & Traveling. She is a member of Gulshan club, Dhaka. She visited many countries of the word for business purposes. She also received award as ‘The most dynamic women entrepreneur of the year 2009″. The success story Ms. Rehana Rahman will definitely encourage the upcoming female entrepreneurs of the country.
