RN Desk: The prime accused in the sensational murder of an SSC examinee and her mother gave confessional statement to a Chittagong court.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Nur-e-Alam Bhuiyan recorded the statement of Raihan under section 164.
Raihan was sent to jail after the confession while the other accused Mohammad Shaheed, 26, son of Mohammad Babul of city’s Khulshi area, was also sent to jail.
Raihan and Shaheed were accused of stabbing SSC examinee Saima Naznin Nishat, 17, and her mother Rejia Khatun, 50, to death at their flat in the city’s CDA Residential area on Monday morning.
In the confessional statement, Raihan narrated everything about how he along with Shaheed knifed Saima and her mother to death brutally, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Mainuddin, also the investigation officer of the case filed with Double Mooring Police Station.
Raihan claimed that he maintained a relationship with Saima for one year.
He got infuriated and planned to kill Saima, as she tried to avoid him and developed relation with another boy, the investigation officer said.
Police arrested Raihan from a residential hotel at Arambag in the capital on Tuesday night and Shaheed from the port city’s Khulshi area in the early hours of Wednesday.
The duo was brought at the CMP headquarters on Thursday when CMP Commissioner Sahfiqul Islam briefed journalists about the killing.
Raihan told journalists that he could not accept that Saima developed a relationship with another boy.
“I could not accept that she will not be mine and she would go with another one. Then I planned the killing,” Raihan said.
“I now feel a bit sorry for the killing. Saima’s mother was not our target. We killed her, as she resisted us,” he said.
Raihan often visited the guest house where Shaheed worked as driver. He developed a relationship with driver Shaheed there. He shared the matter with Shaheed and promised to give him money in return for help.
