President, PM greet ‘Public Administration Padak’ recipients

DHAKA: President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina yesterday greeted the recipients of “Public Administration Padak-
2018” on the eve of the Public Service Day.

In a message on the occasion, the President said he is happy to know
that the Ministry of Public Administration is distributing the ‘Public
Administration Padak-2018’ as the public servants play a significant role in
completing the government works.

The civil service is mainly run by different laws, rules-regulations,
circular and order-restriction, he said, adding, “The present civil service
has brought many changes and the administration is now working towards
development and welfare.”

People expect good governance and service from the civil servants, the
President said, adding, “The government has taken various measures for
building a people-oriented civil service”.

He said the government announced vision 2021 and vision 2041 to make
Bangladesh a technology-based, modern and developed country.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a separate message said an efficient,
effective, economic and time- befitting administrative system is the key to
sustainable development.

“Bangladesh civil administration is engaged in providing services for
the people as part of the executive wing,” she said.

She added the government has arranged training programmes at home and
abroad for members of the civil service aimed at making them capable of
reaching services to the people.

“Sincere efforts of our government is underway to reach services to
marginal people at affordable cost through improving and making easy the ICT
activities, as part of our plan to turn Bangladesh into a digital country,”
the Prime Minister added.

She said the government has already increased salary and allowances of
the civil servants, as incentive for public servants is related to the Public
Administration Padak.

Sheikh Hasina said skilled civil services are key component for ensuring
sustainable development of the country and Bangladesh civil administration is
working for the well-being of the country and its people.
