Staff Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members rescued a kidnapped businessman and arrested two alleged kidnappers from Dharampur village in Godagari Thursday night.
The trader Sirajul Islam of Sayedabad in Dhaka was abducted from Dharampur on June 20.
The arrestees were identified as Rezaul Karim alias Swapan, 28, and his younger brother Sohel Rana, 26.
Rab sources said Rezaul used to drive a private car of Sirajul Islam on rental basis for long but did not pay any money to Sirajul for the last three months.
To realise the rent, Sirajul came to the residence of Rezaul at Dharampur, but the two brothers confined him to their house on June 20.
Later, the criminals through cellphone demanded a ransom of Tk 2,50,000 from Sirajul’s elder brother Giash Uddin who informed the police and Rapid Action Battalion.
Acting on a tip-off, the elite force raided the house of Rezaul at around 10:30pm and rescued Sirajul.
