DHAKA: The rate of inflation in the country fell by 0.39 per cent in November of the current fiscal, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The rate of point to point inflation stood at 6.21 per cent in November which was 6.60 per cent in October.
Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal today released the monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) at a press conference at the NEC conference room in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Apart from the general inflation, the rate of food inflation in national, urban and rural levels also fell in the month.
At national level, the rate of food inflation in November declined to 6.44 per cent from 7.16 per cent in October. Besides, rate of non-food inflation rose to 5.84 per cent from 5.74 per cent in the previous month.
On the other hand, the rate of inflation at the urban level stood at 6.51 per cent and rural level at 6.05 per cent.
At the rural level, the food inflation stood at 6.38 per cent, down from 7.11 per cent in the previous month, while the non-food inflation increased to 5.45 per cent compared to 5.36 per cent in October.
Besides, in the urban areas the food inflation dropped to 6.61 per cent from 7.27 per cent. But, the non-food inflation witnessed an upward trend and it stood at 6.39 per cent as against 6.26 per cent in October.
The national wage index rate witnessed a 10.32 per cent growth in November with 8757.62 point, down from 8701.74 point in October.
The average year to year rate of inflation from December, 2013 to November, 2014 also came down to 7.10 per cent compared to 7.52 per cent from December 2012 to November 2013.
Planning Division Secretary Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam, Planning Commission members and BBS Director General Golam Mostafa Kamal were present at the press conference.
