In Technaf:Cake seller, push-cart driver are now the owners of palace like colorful building !

Mahmudul Hoque Khan Dulal: A very lucrative yaba business makes people in Teknaf rapid richman like a magic. Anybody must believe this by reading the stories of livelihood and style of living as well of some drug peddlers (Yaba traders) which have been given below:
Amir Ahmad used to sell cake on a van beside road. But his style of livelihood had been changed like a magic or by the bless of the monster’s lamp. This very Amir now uses luxurious Pajero Jeep which costs not less than one crore taka. Leaving that van he lives in his own duplex house and wanders here and there with bodyguards. Amir’s pattern of business has been changed and now he sells yaba(a dangerous drug) in lieu of selling cake on a van. He has now turned into a ‘Laita’ Amir and owner of crores of money who once was merely a floating cake seller. Born in a very ultra-poor family like Amir, there are many examples of Amirs who have changed their life style due to yaba business in the country. The main route is for trafficking yaba in Technaf. A survey says that the people who had nothing few years ago, they were only a farmer and business man of cattle or some were a driver of cart. Unlike Amir, Noor Mohammad, Nurul Huda, Ali Hossain and Manjur Alam are also owner of crores of money in Technaf and they are the owner of recent made palace like home at different areas of coastal belt of upazilas. These yaba traffickers have made networks of drug and made themselves a god father. They have made their own syndicate and dangerous cadres for yaba smuggling. The most people of Technaf, a land of heaven for drugs smuggling are both directly or indirectly involved with ‘yaba’ business. There are few people could stand against their such illegal activities. In the past who stood against such hateful acts were victims of harassment as yaba businessmen or criminals and sometimes they were handed over to the law enforcers. For this why nobody dares to go against them and nobody wants to talk openly as well regarding this matter. The yaba business of Technaf are so powerful and they have agents in the field level. Information regarding a stranger who comes in the town first goes so fast to them. Everybody such as betel leaf vendor, rickshaw puller, bus driver, some people of floating small traders are working as the source of yaba traders. Outsiders are not allowed to enter into some remote areas of Technaf. There are some palace like houses at Moulavi para, Jaila para, Leda and Hela. There are many one-storied and two-storied palace like buildings are standing in this remote villages. These areas are called the ‘Singapore of Technaf’, ‘Dubai of Technaf’ and close circuit camera (cctv) has been set up in these beautiful buildings for security. A pile of sand has been left on the metaled road so that the strangers or the members of law enforcing agencies could not come easily, people of this locality said. Despite many impediments the law enforcers drive operation in those palace like building but yaba god fathers fled away before any drive. Moulavi para which situated three kilometers off from Technaf bus terminal is called ‘Singapore of Technaf’. This Correspondent was obstructed several times on the way to Moulavi para from bus terminal. Riding on 8 to 10 motor bikes youngsters of that area asked this Correspondent about his whereabouts and identity as well. Sometimes people of law enforcing agencies also searched him. But when this Correspondent reached Moulavipara after over coming the hassel of youngsters and law enforcing agencies the auto driver made the Correspondent careful saying that they had to enter Moulavipara area with their own responsibility as it was an abode of yaba traders. It might be a bigger loss if they come to know about us. Usually many people fall in danger after reaching here. They are handed over to police as drug traders.
It is really difficult to understand by seeing the eye catching houses of Moulavipara , a village of boarder area of Bangladesh. These buildings are decorated with different kinds of tiles and the houses were reflecting due to sun rays. Ali Hossain is the owner of the first home of the village. Although he is a cattle trader by profession but he did all this things with the money yaba business. Ali Hossain son of Fazal Aziz has become a man of crores of money by doing yaba business and his another brother Manjur Alam who is a cattle trader as well made a palace like building. Leaving cattle business Manjur Alam involved himself in yaba business like his brother. Rahim Bepari also started yaba business leaving salt cultivation and he also made a large sized building at Moulavipara. He has costly flats in Cox’s Bazar and in the capital city Dhaka as well. A big sized colorful building to be seen at the right side after entering in Technaf area from Cox’s Bazar. Noor Mohammad, a push cart driver is the owner of this building. His wheel of fate ran only three years back. He used to carry the consigned of yaba from Technaf to Cox’s Bazar. But unluckily this god father of yaba killed in a cross fire of RAB last month.
Nurul Alam, a resident of Nayapara (Jinapara) who became an owner of crores of money all on a sudden was arrested on September23, last year. He was awarded a five year imprisonment, but he leads his life there as a high profile accused, a source said. His own cadres are running the business in absence of him. Nurun Nahar, the another drug trafficker also owns a one-storied building . Syful of Shilbunia, Alamgir of Kalapara are also truned into an owner of huge wealth and properties. Ramjan of Naitangpara made the biggest house first by running yaba business. He is popularly known as ‘yaba Ramjan’ in the locality. As police looked for him and he was compelled to leave the area but his business is running well by the help of his over hundred associates. The over all situation of Technaf has reached in such situation that yaba business are being run in each and every houses. Many people think that yaba business is a legal business. Mukul Jote Chakma, Deputy Director of Chittagong Metropolitan area says, yaba trders of this locality are well organized and very powerful. They got the information about the law enforcers in advance through their various sources and for this why it has become so difficult arrest the criminals.
