Govt trying to identify attackers of DU VC residence

DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said troublemakers carried out an attack on the residence of Dhaka University (DU) vice-chancellor to create anarchy and the government is trying to identify the people involved in the attack seeing video footage.

“The government is trying to identify the attackers of the DU VC’s house seeing the video footage of the incident, which was carried out during the quota reform movement,” he told reporters at the Secretariat this afternoon.

The home minister said members of different intelligence agencies started working to identify the attackers and the government will provide all-out support to them in this regard.

“The VC’s house, car and furniture were vandalised and many valuable goods went missing…wearing masks, the attackers including both male and female entered the house,” he said.

But, Kamal said, no student can carry out such heinous act and the authorities concerned are examining whether activists of any political party were involved as more than 1,000 people entered into the DU campus from Nilkhet area.

Replying to a question, he said a case will be filed under the Digital Security Act against those who spread fake news on facebook.

Terming the attack on the DU VC residence in the name of quota reform movement very disgraceful, the home minister categorically said no conscious society can support it at all.
