May 2, 2019 - DHAKA, April 30, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today gave Taka 22 lakh to ailing Md Goljar Hossain Talukder, a valiant freedom fighter and one of the close associates of Bangabandhu. The premier gave the financial assistance to Goljar, who has been suffering from cancer for long, at her Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban office here this evening, said a press release. She enquired about his treatment and directed concerned to provide him proper treatment. Goljar, hailed from Netrokona district, had protested the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members on August 15, 1975. Because of his protest, arrest of warrant was issued against him and he went into hiding for more than four years.

Film Grants Committee’s misunderstanding resolved

Film Grants Committee’s misunderstanding resolved

DHAKA: The misunderstanding among the four members Film Grants Committee has been resolved following a fruitful meeting with Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at his official residence last night.

The four members – veteran actor Mamunur Rashid, eminent directors Nasir Uddin Yousuf Bachchu, Morshedul Islam and Matin Rahman – who wanted to resign from their positions, joined the meeting and stated that they will continue their duties staying in the committee.

Information Secretary Abdul Malek was present in the meeting, said a press release.

During the meeting, they discussed developing of film industry, increasing of number of films on donation and enhancing the amount of donation.

The minister assured of taking necessary measures in this regard.
