Dr Wazed served selflessly: AL leaders

RANGPUR: Leaders of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies at a memorial discussion here last night said nuclear scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah worked selflessly to build Bangabandhu’s developed Sonar Bangla.

The district unit of AL organised the discussion followed by milad and doa mahfils at district AL office in Betpotti area of city to observe the ninth death anniversary of the nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr M A Wazed Miah.

Acting president of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the discussion participated by leaders and workers of the district and city units of AL and associate bodies, civil society members and professionals.

Vice-president of district AL Joynal Abedin, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, Joint Secretary Professor Mazed Ali Babul, Treasurer Abul Kashem and Publicity Secretary Rosy Rahman, Vice-president of city AL Shah Md Nabiullah Panna, President of district Mohila AL Mortuza Mansur, its General Secretary Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, President of district Chhatra League Mehedee Hasan Rony, addressed.

Terming Dr Wazed as a completely honest and greedless person with noble character and excellent human qualities, the speakers said he served the nation generously with the highest degree of patriotism, love and passion despite remaining in touch of state power.

They said Dr Wazed was an incomparable man, led a very simple life and worked with utmost dedication to immortalize Bangabandhu’s dream of building a technologically and scientifically advanced Bangladesh.

Advocate Raju said the ideals of Dr Wazed would remain as model of inspiration and the people would remember him forever for his tremendous contribution to taking the country forward both technologically and scientifically.

Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed called upon the leaders and workers of AL and its associate bodies as well as young generations to follow the ideals of Dr Wazed to build a developed Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu.

At the end, Moulana Moynul Islam conducted the milad and doa mahfil and special munajats seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Dr Wazed Miah and wellbeing of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and other family members.
