DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is set to take unprecedented security measures ahead of the 20th council of the ruling Awami League scheduled to be held on October 22 and 23.
The venue Suhrawardi Udyan and its adjoining areas will be brought under security net with deployment of law enforcers in large numbers and with installation of closed circuit camera televisions (CCCTVs) at entry points and areas linked to the main road.
Police will monitor the overall security arrangement round the clock from its central control room to ensure foolproof security and take the venue under their control upon completion of erecting the stage on Friday.
DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah today elaborated the security plan after paying visit to the venue– Suhrawardi Udyan. High officials of DMP accompanied him during the visit.
No visitors will be allowed to enter the council venue for the next three days and the security measures will be coordinated by the police, RAB, SWAT and the AL leaders and activists, he said.
