Corrupt people are under surveillance: Quader

ENI: Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said all corrupt people are under surveillance of the government.

He said this while exchanging views with journalists at Feni circuit house here this morning.

The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the country’s only statesman who started cleanliness drives inside her own party.

“Investigations are going on about those involved in wrongdoings, including corruption and tender manipulation. Steps will be taken, if specific proofs are found,” he said.

Quader said the government does not interfere in the affairs of independent judiciary.

In this regard, he mentioned that a ruling party MP was given sentence in a graft case and cases have been filed against more than one public representatives elected from the party.

He said a local Awami League leader was also made accused in Nusrat murder case and he was also given death sentence in the court verdict in connection with the murder.

It has proven that no miscreant is spared during the Awami League rule, he added.

About the treatment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Quader said BNP wants to hatch conspiracy capitalizing on Khaleda’s treatment.

The picture of Khaleda Zia’s health condition portrayed by her party leaders and relatives does not match with the observations of the physicians, he added.

Quader said BNP leaders are not anxious about Khaleda’s health, rather they want to make an issue of movement capitalizing on her illness.

AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary and Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, Feni University Board of Trustees Chairman Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim, Feni-2 lawmaker and Feni District AL General Secretary Nizam Uddin Hazari and District AL President Abdur Rahman Bikom, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Wahiduzzaman and Superintendent of Police Khondker Nurunnabi were present on the occasion.
