Dr Shirin said, “It is a matter of pride and greatest achievement for the Bangalee nation to attain independence under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

Terming August as the month of mourning, she said, “August 15 is the darkest chapter in our national life when the conspirators and defeated anti-liberations forces assassinated most of the members of Bangabandhu’s family,
including child Rasel in 1975.”

“However, it is possible to build a ‘Sonar Bangla’ by working sincerely through nurturing and following the ideal of Bangabandhu to realise his dream though the killers have assassinated him,” she said.

Dr Shirin said sign of the nationwide massive developments has touched Pirganj upazila where 100 percent area has come under electricity coverage and 44 academy buildings of educational institutions have been constructed
and most of the roads carpeted.

“Side by side with extensive development in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, huge developments have also taken place in the infrastructure sector of Pirganj,” she said.

As part of the massive infrastructural uplifts in the upazila, the long-cherished 301-metre Noondaho Ghat Bridge is being constructed at the cost of Taka 27-crore to establish direct road communication between Pirganj and
Dinajpur to accelerate socioeconomic uplifts in the region.

“The present government has promoted women development and empowerment by taking various steps including providing training on sewing, computer and mobile servicing and many other trades.”

The ‘Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar’ project is playing very important role for rural women to become self-reliant through various income generation activities also contributing to the national advancement.
