Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor, MP is one of the renowned cultural personalities of the country. Born on October 31,1946, Mr. Noor hails from the district of Nilfamari. A worthy son of late Abu Nazem Md. Ali and Late Amina Begum, he spent his childhood, adulthood and part of his youth in Nilfamari. He completed his school and college education both in Nilphamari and Rangpur and Later on at the University of Dhaka from 1966 to 1971. He was actively involved with student’s politics during the movement of independence. He had played a vital role as a freedom fighter in the Great Liberation war’1971.
Mr. Asaduzzaman started his career with the then widely circulated weekly Chitrali in 1972 but after one year in 1973 he joined with Baridhi Press of Bitopi Advertising Farm as Manager. He also worked with Soviet Embassy as Press Relation Officer in 1974. Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor joined as General Manager with the then East Asiatic Advertising Ltd. (Now Asiatic Marketing Communications Ltd.) in 1980 and Later on he became the Shareholder of this company. Now he is the Deputy Managing Director of this company and alongside this he established few organizations in which he has been carrying out his responsibilities in different capacities. He is the Managing Director of Desh TV, Chairman, Dhanichitra Ltd., Managing Director, Moitree Printers Ltd, Director, Asiatic Mindshare Ltd, Director, Asiatic Estates Ltd, Director, MRC Mode Ltd, and Managing Director, Asiatic Events Marketing Ltd.
Apart from the business activities Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor is widely involved in cultural activities since a long time. He involved with Nagorik Nattya Samprodoy in 1972 and as of today he has been contributing significantly for the development of staged drama of Bangladesh. At present he is the treasurer of this organization and so far he acted six hundred times of fifteen dramas. He has directed drama and Dewan Gazir kischa is one of them which made a record by staging over three hundred times. Although he prefers to work mainly with stage drama, he also worked with Tv, Radio and cinema and here he has also shown tremendous success as a talented actor. Over the years he acted in over 300 tv dramas, serials including Ai Shob Din Ratri, Bahubrihi, Ayomoy and Kothao Keau Nei which gained enormous popularity. Over 50 dramas were broadcast in Radio so far. Mr. Noor translated 3 dramas of Breached for stage, wrote 3 dramas for television adapting the novel of Rabindranath Tagore. He also wrote a drama for television which has been published as ‘A more Ahangkar’.
Asaduzzaman Noor is also involved with other organizations. He is a member, Executive Committee of International Theatre Institute, member, Bangladesh Group Tehatre Federation, Trustee member, Muktijuddo Jadughar, President, Abriti Samannoy Parishad, Vice President, Sammilita Sangskritik jote, member, Dhaka club and General Secretary, Bangladesh Russian Moitree Samity. Mr. Noor visited many countries in the world including UK, USA, Bulgeria, Japan, Vietnam, Soviet Union, Italy, France, India, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Nether land. Alongside his socio-cultural activities Mr. Noor is also involved with politics since student life. He joined with the erstwhile East Pakistan Student Union in 1963. He was elected as General Secretary in 1965 and later on he came to Dhaka and become cultural Secretary of the then East Pakistan Student Union Central Committee. He joined with Communist Party in 1971 and in the same year took part actively in the Great Liberation War in which he played a vital role as a freedom fighter. But in 1974, he gave up politics completely and engaged himself in cultural activities and also paid attention to his profession. Over the years as a cultural activist he was involved with different socio political movement and in the mid of 1998 he again involved with direct politics and joined in Awami League. He was elected Member of the Parliament in 2001 and in 2002 appointed as Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor again elected as the Member of Parliament in National Polls held in 2008. In personal life he is blessed with a son Sudipta and a daughter Suprova. His wife Ms. Shaheen Aktar is a doctor by profession.
