DHAKA: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, yesterday said that framing of ‘Agro Workers Act’ is a must to enlist their names and for registration for establishing their rights.
Besides, he urged them to free their villages from militancy describing it ‘enemy of development’.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on ‘Agro workers problem and prospects’ organized by Krishisramik Odhikar Moncha, Karmajibi Nari and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) at its auditorium here.
Hasanul Haq Inu said that the government is considering introduction of Palli Rationing system along with old-age and widow allowances. Besides, initiatives will also be taken to distribute khas land among the landless people, he said.
With PKSF chairman Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food M Abdul Wadud, PKSF managing director M Abdul Karim, and Professor Mahfuza Khanom.
