Advance rail tickets from June 1: Muzibul Hoque

DHAKA: Railways Minister M Muzibul Hoque today said the home bound passengers for the Eid-ul-Fitr can procure their advance tickets for the train service from June 1.

“For traveling from June 10 to 15, the travelers can procure advance tickets from June 1 to 6, 10 days before their travel schedule,” he told a press briefing at Railway Bhaban here.

The minister said the Eid advance tickets will be available from 8:00 am everyday under special arrangement in Dhaka and Chattogram railway stations.

The passengers would purchase advance tickets on June 1 to travel on June 10, on June 2 to travel on June 11, on June 3 to travel on June 12, on June 4 to travel on June 13, on June 5 to travel on June 14 and on June 6 to travel on June 15, he added.

The passengers can also collect their advance train tickets for return journey from Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat stations under special arrangements from 8:00 am from June 10 to 15 for traveling from June 19 to 24, Hoque said.

“Maximum four advance tickets would be given to a person or passenger. A total of 26 counters will remain open in Dhaka station,” he added.

The Bangladesh Railway has taken all-out preparations to prevent black marketing of advance train tickets, the minister said, adding “The Railway Police (GRP), Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), local police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) would provide round-the-clock security to prevent black marketing,” Haque said.

Besides, the minister said, mobile courts will be conducted with the help of the Deputy Commissioners (DCs).

“No goods loaded train will be allowed to ply except container and oil loaded trains before three days of the Eid,” he said.

Moreover, seven pair of special trains will ply from June 18 to 24 on different routs marking the Eid festival.

During the press briefing railways Secretary Mofazzal Hossian, Director General of Bangladesh Railways Md Amzad Hossain and other officials concerned were present.
