DHAKA: A total of 40 under-graduate students from different academic years of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded Sumitomo Corporation Scholarship, Japan yesterday.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the scholarships among the students as the chief guest at a function at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university, according to a press release.
Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh Takeshi Matsunaga and General Manager of the Sumitomo Corporation Naoto Yamada were present on the occasion as special guests.
The DU VC thanked the Sumitomo Corporation authorities for providing the scholarship to DU students and hoped that the students would be benefited and encouraged by this donation.
Awardees of different years are: First year (Hons.)- Fariha Tasnim (Physics), Mishu Rani Mazumder (Mathematics), Prantika Mutsuddi (Management Studies), Amit Barua (Accounting & Information Systems), Amal Chandra Mondal (Marketing), Md. Kamrul Hasan (Banking & Insurance), Lizainul Islam Ripon (International Business), Kazi Golam Tasfiq (Economics), Jannatul Rafeya (Microbiology) and Zarif Hossain (Genetic Engineering & Bio-technology).
